CHOIRS
|
The Arts
Experience Children’s Choirs & Youth Oratorio are
classically trained performance-oriented choirs that provide
extensive musical education and vocal training to youth ages
6 to 19.
TAE Choirs
are comprised of three choirs - Melody, Concert & Youth
Oratorio. Choir rehearsals are held weekly according to
the Cabarrus County School schedule. Singers are eligible
for participation pending an audition process. |

Objectives

Promote artistic excellence

Provide youth with affordable high
quality music education incorporating the following
concepts and skills: singing, sight reading,
ear training, melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics, timbre,
style and intonation

through rehearsals, performances & special projects

Presence, Self-Confidence & Self-Discipline

Introduce singers to a varied and
challenging repertoire, which fosters musical growth

The experiences gained through TAE
Choirs help youth develop relationships and friendships,
therefore gaining a greater understanding and acceptance of
cultural differences and similarities.

Melody
Choir – A preparatory treble choir for youth ages 6 to 10.
Singers enrolled have must have demonstrated the ability to match
pitch.
This group learns
introductory musical skills such as following the musical score,
good posture, breathing, note reading, vocal production and
performance skills. Melody Choir music is in unison and two-part.
Melody Choir
rehearsals – Tuesdays, 4pm until 5pm – Central United Methodist Church.
Concert Choir –
An intermediate treble choir for youth ages 10 through 8th
grade. Singers enrolled must have demonstrated the ability to sing
in two and three parts.
This group focuses on
performance skills as well as interval training, note reading and
music vocabulary. Vocal training is more extensive in this choir and
requires maturity for participation. The Concert Choir sings
regularly throughout the greater Charlotte region and tours annually
along the east coast.
Concert Choir
rehearsals – Tuesdays, 5pm until 6pm – Central United Methodist Church.
Youth Oratorio -
An advanced mixed chorus for high-school youth, college freshman
and boys with changed voices. Singers enrolled must demonstrate a
high level of maturity and commitment to the art of choral singing
for participation.
Singers experience
challenging choral repertoire, learn advanced vocal techniques and
refine performance skills.
The Youth Oratorio
sings regularly throughout the greater Charlotte region and tours
annually along the east coast.
Youth Oratorio rehearsals – Tuesdays, 6pm until 7:30pm – Central United Methodist Church.
Repertoire
The Arts Experience Children’s Choirs & Youth Oratorio
have a varied and extensive repertoire which includes music
from musical geniuses such as: Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart,
Haydn and Schubert. TAE Choirs also study music from many
contemporary composers including Moses Hogan and John
Rutter. TAE Choirs sing in several languages and perform
many patriotic, folk and popular music selections.
