The Arts
Experience & Our Schools - Working Together for Children
Here at The Arts Experience, we’re proud to note our
continuing cooperation with Cabarrus County public and
private schools in working together for children.
If you’ll forgive us for
tooting our own horn, we’d like to highlight for you some of
the ways we work with the local schools, and how your
generous contributions are paying off in the community.
We host an annual luncheon for music specialists from county
public and private schools, giving teachers a chance to
network with each other, and to learn more about the
programs available to their students through The Arts
Experience.
Further contributing to the success of the area music
specialists, we offer several opportunities each year for
teacher employment and development. We contract with local
teachers to help with our summer programs and special
projects, and we bring in music professionals to offer
continuing education credits to area teachers free of
charge. It means a lot to the teachers to be able to add
these programs to their resumes and teaching credentials. It
means even more to their students, who benefit directly from
their teachers’ renewed excitement and expanded knowledge.
We are continuing to cross cultural lines to recruit young
voices for our choir programs. We have developed a new
partnership with local public school English as a Second
Language programs to continue to break down social,
economic, and now even language barriers between our young
people.
Students and teachers are benefiting from our regular
literature distribution program within the schools. Thanks
to Philip Morris, we are also developing a program brochure
in Spanish to be distributed to the students in the English
as a Second Language classes so that more parents and
children can be made aware of the opportunities offered by
The Arts Experience.
We also have in development a new cultural arts and music
curriculum to be used in after school programs. This program
will reach an even wider audience of young people who live
in single-parent homes or in homes with two working parents.
We’re proud of the partnerships we’ve made in Cabarrus
County, and as we continue to grow with your support, we’ll
be telling you about more and more of them.
